Popeye's Cuts the Mustard

I don't care a lot for fast food. Much of it is overpriced and overrated. I don't even remember the last time I stopped at the golden arches. One place that I do like is Popeye's Chicken. I first discovered them in Mississippi probably 8-10 years ago on a trip to Lumberton. My favorite item is the spicy chicken strips with a side of the Cajun fries and hot "Mardi Gras Mustard" dipping sauce.

Last month when I stopped in, I was told they were out of the hot mustard. I was disappointed, but things like this happen on occasion. Imagine my surprise, though, when I went in last week only to be told the mustard has been discontinued. WHAT? No more mustard? Blasphemy! Well, in its stead, I was offered some spicy honey mustard, but it was, quite honestly, not the same: I found it too sweet and too bland.

Well, I've contacted Popeye's, but haven't heard back from them yet. I am majorly disappointed that I can't get the spicy mustard anymore. Yes, I will live, but Popeye's just won't be the same anymore.

I too am REALLY disappointed that Mardi Gras Mustard is gone. I like Popeyes, but without MGM, it's not that special. At "my" Popeyes, the manager told me that a guy came in and bought the last 6 cases when he heard it was being axed. I haven't heard from Popeyes either, but I will continue my crusade to help them save themselves.

I can't believe they "cut the mustard". What kind of mentally challenged CEO made that decision. Everyone I know loves the Mardi Gras Mustard. I do not eat there as often since. Not a smart move on Popeyes part.

REally?!?
They just did the EXACT opposite here, removing Spicy Honey Mustard with Mardi Gras Mustard. Quite frankly the MGM sucks. It burns my sinuses and tastely like stale alcohol. It really does take some of the enjoyment out of the strips. I actually stopped eating at popeyes because they removed the spicy honey mustard. Pfft!

Ha! I found this page looking for Popeye's mustard information :). I was sorely disappointed this weekend to find I couldn't get my beloved spicy, smoky Spicy Honey Mustard, and was given Mardi Gras Mustard instead. Maybe we need an exchange program :).

The Mardi Gras mustard may grow on me, but I actually went there because I was craving the other stuff! It's as bad as when they discontinued the naked strips...

If you can figure out how to smuggle it into the restaurant, Zatarains makes a creole mustard that's almost as good as the Mardi Gras Mustard.

Wow, I thought I was the only person out there who loved Mardi Gras Mustard. I too cut back on going to Popeyes because it's not the same without the mustard. I know most would say that's silly but that is what made it worth while to eat there. I hope someone in corporate read these comment and realize the damage they do by cutting the things we love the most.

MARDI GRAS MUSTARD IS AWESOME! I was absolutely disappointed when they "Cut the mustard." That was the whole reason I went there. Hopefully they will bring it back, but I won't hold my breath.

I know this was posted almost two years ago... but I jumped online to see if Popeye's had, by some grace of God, brought back the Mardi Gras Mustard. It saddens me deeply and even after all this time -- I am still hopeful that it will return. I don't think I'll ever get over them taking away Mardi Gras Mustard. What in the hell were they thinking?!? /vent

-Disappointed in Alabama... still.

I think they gave us (Illinois) your beloved MGM and gave you our beloved spicy honey mustard...this is ridiculous and we need to reverse this again
